But they don't get fired very much since Hitler finished bombing the place.

Oh my God, I watched He's Just Not That Into You
Oh, yes... I actually went to see a chick flick. I knew from the beginning what to expect: light comedy, well known actors and a good enough movie to entertain someone who wanted to relax. Here's what I actually saw: a couple of funny moments, a lot of supposedly funny moments that weren't that funny (I guess light comedy was a very good description), a couple of interesting insights (nothing new) and plenty of bad acting. To be fair, there was no place for good acting... the two Jennifers managed to play 'psycho' and 'depressed' with dignity... I still can't understand how I managed to stay awake. I guess I just understand less and less since I had the same issue with 'Underworld - Rise of the Lycans'. I really need to watch some horror movies to get back on my feet.
Notchwalk
It seems that living in Stowe as a young person and not skiing is something unthinkable. At least this is the feeling I get each time somebody asks me where I live and, invariably, the next question they ask is "And do you ski?".
Well, honestly, I don't. I mean I did and maybe I will do it again, but I don't do it at the present time. Baffled, the inquirer asks the third question: "Why live there if you don't ski?". I always find it difficult to provide a simple, straight answer to this question not because I wouldn't know the answer but because there is no simple answer.
I'm sure anyone can easily find cool stuff to do in Stowe all year round (including the muddy season if you're into mud runs) but that's not the issue I want to write about.
The road (Route 108 or Mountain Road) through Smuggler's Notch Pass is closed during winter time for a good stretch on both sides of the pass. On the Stowe's side the road is closed right after the parking lot across from the last Mount Mansfield slopes. That's where people go for walks, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and whatever else they can think of. A lot of these people are accompanied by their pets (usually dogs) and this is where my issue begins.
I find the white and fluffy powder combined with the forest and the gray of the mountains very relaxing. However, as soon as you leave your car and start walking you realize that reality is a spoiled copy of what you expected. The immaculate white you dreamed of is scattered with yellow and brown. Clearly, nature at its finest.
Now, I don't want to be mean and I understand that animals have their needs that can't be controlled, but what about their owners? Why do they want to make things worse for other people that want to enjoy nature? Is it that difficult to cover the pee with snow? Is it impossible for them to use a plastic bag, to scoop the poo and take it away? It seems it is because things are the same every year and they don't seem to get any better.
I won't accept the "it's all natural" argument since it is not valid. You bring the pet therefore you are responsible for what you and it leave behind. You don't see me do the natural thing on the side of the road. So what's the explanation for this? Well... lack of responsibility, laziness, disrespect, rudeness... lack of common sense? I don't know, I just feel that I can't find a word that's harsh enough to make them understand what they're taking from me and from others. And I fear that nobody would care even if I ever found that word.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that someone actually used a plastic bag, a brown plastic bag like the ones you can find at your grocery store. Too bad they had left it in the snow as well...

How America Lost the War on Drugs
I think this is a very well documented and well written article. It is long, but it makes for a very interesting read.
