Canes vs. Kings - Miniatures

Went to the RBC Center to see the Hurricanes vs The Kings, yesterday. These guys have taken over the field for a few minutes during the first break. They were funny.

Mr. Gingrich thinks that after establishing a base on the moon and getting 13k people there it can petition to become the 51st State. I will contradict Mr. Gingrich on this: it will have to petition to become the 52nd State as someone is already petitioning to be the 51st:

Healthy Food

I got to go to Romania for a few weeks, closer to two months, actually. My grandmother says that this is what people in her village called "healthy" food (well, take that with a grain of salt - literally?):

This is a thick fat from the belly of the pig (used in a kind of cake - cookie, that's actually really good, called haioș) heavy salted, kneaded and folded. There's a trace of meat in there as well. It is smoked and the fat is rancid. You eat it with home made bread (... or with the wonder that you can see below), cheese (something like feta, you must not spoil it with whatever cheese you can find), and tomatoes.

And speaking of tomatoes, you will be comatose but it's worth it.

It's been a while. Thankfully, I got something good this time...

Tired of My Desk

Working from home is sometime boring, so I'm always on the lookout for interesting places to work from, outside the home. 

This one is perfect. The comute is great as long as you are willing to drive 4 hours in each direction, each day (just wake up early in the morning and start driving West from Raleigh). You can finish with a great ride on Blue Ridge Parkway and with the crossing of the (not so) Swinging (anymore) Bridge. The view is great and the wind provides the white noise for concentration. Just watch your steps and you're good. 

The only problem you may have is using a glossy monitor, especially one that seems to have gathered enough filth (although I just cleaned it 3 days before) like the one in the image. There's enough space for a team there so if you're interested, by all means, take a look...

Getting Old - The Tech Way

I think I am getting old. How can I tell that? Well, it just happens that I was listening to The Black Keys on my iPod and I started shaking the iPod to the beat but, because I had the 'shake to shuffle' feature on, it skipped the song. Now, here's why I know I am getting old: the first thought through my head was 'shit, the disk skipped'.
